We are actively recruiting a Shop Fabricator to join our growing Shop team in our Dallas office location. The Shop is Corgan’s in-house fabrication team, which leverages skills in both innovative technologies and traditional craftsmanship to produce physical explorations that enhance our design process. As a Shop Fabricator, you will work under the direction of the Shop Director to create scale architectural models, mock-ups, prototypes, and physical explorations that add value to our projects and clients. 

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with internal employees and other experts in certain fields of study to produce physical models
  • Support and assist modeling operations in all Corgan offices
  • Mentor colleagues and design teams to support their development as makers
  • Assist the Shop Team in maintaining fabrication equipment and enforcing Shop cleaning and safety standards
  • Explore new technologies and methodologies, draw conclusions, and use critical thinking to create new ideas both for our clients and our internal design teams
  • Conduct explorations for prototyping and investigations

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring:

  • Degree in Architecture, Product Design, Industrial Design, or Interior Design
  • Experience working with shop equipment and materials
  • Experience with digital fabrication technologies and processes
  • Understand how to use appropriate methodologies depending on the fabrication context
  • Can recommend creative fabrication and design approaches to uncover unmet needs and opportunity zones
  • Receptive to feedback and constructive when providing it to others
  • Enjoys working through ambiguous environments and working on cross-disciplinary teams
  • Passionate about creating good experiences and possesses a “curiosity-first" mindset
  • Experience working in the Architecture or Interior Design industry is a plus
  • Experience with computational design software is a plus
  • Experience with digital fabrication software (3D print slicers, CAM software, etc.), Rhino, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and other 3-D modeling programs
